Change.gov Launches As Part of The Presidential Transition Project

Friday, November 7th, 2008

Yesterday Barack Obama launched Change.gov, a new website including a blog that is part of the Presidential Transition Project, aiding in the process of going from President-Elect to President. Today they posted video of Obama’s first press conference following his election.

The Presidential Transition Project is the enormous effort of hundreds of people coming together to lay out the agenda and priorities for the Obama Administration. Led by President-Elect Barack Obama, Vice-President Elect Joe Biden, a transition advisory board, and respected leaders from both the public and private sector, the transition is responsible for ensuring that the transfer of power from the current administration to the Obama Administration is smooth and that the continuity of leadership is preserved.

John Hodgman In Conversation With Dave Eggers (San Francisco)

Friday, November 7th, 2008

City Arts & Lectures presents John Hodgman in conversation with Dave Eggers on Monday, November 10th at Herbst Theatre in San Francisco. John will be discussing his new book “More Information Than You Require”. Here’s more info.

American author and humorist John Hodgman has enjoyed a sharp rise in popularity over recent years, thanks, in part, to regular appearances as Resident Expert on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” and a recurring role as “PC” on Apple’s “Get a Mac” TV ads. But his work has been gaining momentum since his graduation from Yale in 1994. After working in the publishing industry he wrote an ironic advice column for McSweeney’s entitled, “Ask a Former Literary Agent.” In his first book, The Areas of My Expertise, Hodgman explores topics from illustrations of hoboes to furry lobsters. In his role as Resident Expert on “The Daily Show,” Hodgman has offered insight and commentary on art authentication, presidential candidate style, hurricane season, and mixed martial arts. Hodgman’s new book, More Information Than You Require, to be released October 2008, deals with more of the esoteric, charming and just plain eccentric topics that catch the fancy of its author. John Hodgman’s weird sense of humor perfectly delivers intellectual acrobatics to a culture saturated with experts of every stripe.
